What is presented here is not the ‘usual’ Tuscan red wine, despite being produced by one of the best-known companies in the area. Pinocchio, in fact, is more simply defined as ‘a red wine of Italy’. But let us proceed with order. This red is the result of a careful selection of grapes from no less than three different regions: Tuscany, of course, Emilia-Romagna and Puglia. An intriguing blend of Sangiovese di Toscana, Sangiovese di Romagna and Negroamaro grapes. These are vinified using the carbonic maceration method to enhance the freshness and ‘fruitiness’ of the wine. The result? Simply surprising. In the glass Pinocchio is a beautiful, intense and lively ruby red colour. The nose offers a rich and varied bouquet, with notes of citrus fruits, spices and aromatic herbs. Hints of strawberries, blackberries and wild berries can then be perceived. In the mouth, however, Pinocchio is dry, harmonious and pleasant, with a good structure and fresh acidity. The finish is long and enveloping, with a slightly bitter note. A versatile and convivial wine, this Italian red is suitable for various drinking occasions. Perfect as an aperitif, it simply accompanies tasty dishes such as Neapolitan pizza or Apulian focaccia. But also cold meats and fresh cheeses.
