Located near the town of Avignon in the heart of the Rhone Valley, Bonpas is an old fortified convent given to Carthusian monks by Pope John XXII in 1318. Our wines are the legacy of seven centuries of tradition, patience and work carry. Sophisticated and elegant, they embody the terroir and varieties of this famous region for its power and fruity taste.
The typically Mediterranean climate is maintained by the Mistral balance and a constant mix of seasons, each with its turn, intense rainfall, extremely high temperatures and exceptional long sun intervals. The grapes are grown on plots containing rounded pebbles from the Quaternary terraces on the Ouvèze and Rhone river, in the heart of the southern Rhone valley production area.
The winemaking begins with the cold temperature to bring out the flavors of red fruits. We grapes Grenache and Syrah together from the beginning of the fermentation process for optimum tannin roundness.
